1Language Proficiency Required

Applicants are required to submit a language proficiency certificate that meets the language proficiency requirements in their degree program applications.

1Language Proficiency Required by Each Department

International Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) Degree Program English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5, or CEFR B2 Vantage or higher.
International Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing (Ph.D.N) Degree Program English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 or higher, or CEFR B2 Vantage or higher.
International Master of Science in Nurse-Midwifery Degree Program English proficiency equivalent to IELTS 5.5 or CEFR B2 Vantage or higher.
International Master of Montessori
Degree Program		 English proficiency equivalent to TOFEL iBT test score of 79, or IELTS 6.5 or higher, or a PTE score of at least 53.

1Exemption from Submitting Language Proficiency Certificates

Applicants that meet any one of the following criteria are exempted from providing certificates of language proficiency.

  1. Chinese-taught programs

  • Chinese (Mandarin) is your mother tongue：

If Chinese is your mother tongue, please write a letter in Chinese introducing yourself. Share about how you use Chinese in your daily life, your learning journey, and your skills in listening, reading, speaking, and writing.

  • Your previous degree was conducted in Chinese (Mandarin)：

If any of your past degrees (including high school diploma) were in Chinese (Mandarin), just submit a certification from your previous school. No additional proof of Chinese language skills is needed.。

  • You have previously majored in Chinese (Mandarin)：

If any of your previous degrees, including high school diploma, had a major in Chinese (Mandarin), simply submit your graduation certificate or a certification from your previous school. No additional proof of Chinese language skills is needed.

  1. English-taught programs

  • You are from an English-speaking country：

If you are a citizen of an English-speaking country, no language proficiency documents are required.

  • Your previous degree was obtained from an English-speaking country：

If any of your previous degrees, including high school diploma, is from an English-speaking country, just submit your graduation certificate. No additional proof of English proficiency is needed.

  • Your previous degree was conducted in English：

If any of your prior degrees (including high school diploma) were entirely taught in English, we only need you to submit a certificate from your previous university or high school. No additional evidence of English language proficiency is necessary.
