Reminders for Foreign Students Regarding Part-Time Work During Summer Break

1. Before starting any job, you must first apply for a Work Permit from the Ministry of Labor.

2. During the academic semester, the maximum working hours are 20 hours per week. This restriction does not apply during winter and summer breaks, but all work must still comply with relevant regulations.

3. Violations will be subject to a fine of NT\$30,000 to NT\$150,000 in accordance with Article 68 of the Employment Service Act.

4. Given the rise of emerging industries (such as social media platforms), please also be aware that any collaboration with such industries—such as filming videos or appearing on programs with influencers—is considered work, regardless of whether compensation is received. Therefore, a work permit is still required.

If you encounter any labor rights issues, you may directly contact the Ministry of Labor’s Workforce Development Agency through the “1955” Labor Consultation and Complaint Hotline.
